Benedictine Dining Services

The Benedictine University dining services have worked hard to provide a fun, vibrant, and safe way to dine. A way resident students, commuter students, and staff can see menus, order online, and even be a DJ at Benny’s is through the touch of a phone.

In order to create a safer and welcoming environment, Benny’s is allowing consumers to socially distant dine-in and order in-app to carry out through the apps “Boost” and “Dine On Campus”. With these apps, one could see the full menus and nutritional facts about each meal being provided that day. The Boost app, “With a display menu like DoorDash,” said Jen Manola, Director of Dining Services, is an efficient way to order a meal from Benny’s, CoalBen, and #COFFEE.

The Dine on Campus app is a another great way to stay in the know about what is happening with dining. Within the app not only are residents able to purchase a meal plan and add BBucks to an account, staff, commuter students, and parents of students are able to do this as well.

An exciting addition to Bennys, the “RockBot” app. This app allows students to be the DJ of Bennys. Like a jukebox, within the app choose and request a song and it will play over the speakers of Benny’s so that you may enjoy your delicious meal while listening to your favorite songs.

Along with these additions to dining on campus are new providers. #COFFEE is providing a new menu, a grab & go system, and is using a new Wisconsin provider for bakery and beverage items. Spring semester of the 2020 school year, with the help of Maplewood Craft brewed, the new beverage provider based in Chicago, Coalben will be transformed into a pub type atmosphere. Also, coming in the Spring will be a market inside of Benny’s. Students and staff will be able to grab grocery items in a quick and safe way. Until then a small version of the market will be available.

There’s more! Benny’s has provided new televisions throughout the dining hall with the menu including each item’s nutritional facts including gluten-free and vegetarian. All fresh chicken and beef have been changed to Halal. An allergen station has been placed for the safety of student consumption. A new sustainability wall lets students and staff understand and learn how and where the food they are consuming is produced. In order for students and the dining staff to stay connected, there needs to be communication. To help this process a “Talk to the Chef” chalkboard is available in Benny’s for feedback. ‘We would like to hear from you guys,” said Blake Masterson, Sous Chef.
